CJ McCollum’s Passion For Wine Comes To Life As Willamette Valley Pinot Noir Is Now Available

Professional athlete and wine connoisseur’s inaugural vintage is available starting Sept. 15

NEWBERG, Ore. (Sept. 15, 2020) - Professional athlete and longtime wine connoisseur CJ McCollum’s new wine, the McCollum Heritage 91 2018 Chehalem Mountain Pinot noir, is available for purchase starting today. The wine will be available online through the McCollum Heritage 91 website.

“Even though most people have yet to taste McCollum Heritage 91, the sports and wine communities alike have expressed a great deal of encouragement following our announcement this past June,” said McCollum. “Throughout the last several months, the wine has served as an extension of many memories I’ve made with family, friends and colleagues, and - now that it’s available for sale - I’m eager to hear how others enjoy it.”

McCollum has been intimately involved in every step of bringing McCollum Heritage 91 to life. He spent countless hours with Adelsheim winemaker Gina Hennen, further refining his own wine preferences and investing time to learn the ins-and-outs of operating a wine business. McCollum has been hands-on in the building of the brand, including label and logo design, packaging decisions and overseeing marketing and communications efforts.

“While leaving a legacy has always been greatly important to me, the circumstances of the last several months have reaffirmed my devotion to showing up, both on-and-off the basketball court,” continued McCollum. “McCollum Heritage 91 represents an extension of the passions and commitments I want to share as I honor the people, places and causes that mean the most to me.”

The label name, McCollum Heritage 91, is not only a nod to his family, but “heritage” was McCollum’s childhood street name and “91” is a reflection of McCollum’s own vintage, having been born in 1991.

With a total of 133 cases produced, the McCollum Heritage 91 2018 Chehalem Mountains Pinot noir, which retails for $50, is available for purchase on the McCollum Heritage 91 website: www.mccollumheritage 91.com. Each order will be limited to a maximum of six bottles. McCollum Heritage 91 will also offer a limited edition gift box, including two 2018 Chehalem Mountains Pinot noir bottles, two etched wine glasses and a branded wine key, which will be available for $150.

Like all wines produced with Adelsheim, the McCollum Heritage 91 2018 Chehalem Mountains Pinot noir is LIVE certified sustainable.

“Everyone finds their own path through the world of wine, and it’s been an absolute pleasure working alongside CJ as he continues his journey with McCollum Heritage 91,” said Hennen. “I look forward to future vintages, refining and exploring his love for approachable, enjoyable and sustainably produced wines that should be shared with those you love.”

With availability anticipated in spring of 2021, McCollum plans to release additional vintages of McCollum Heritage 91 wine.

About McCollum Heritage 91

McCollum Heritage 91 is the creation of CJ McCollum. Having been introduced to wine in his early 20s, McCollum’s fortuitous move to one of the top wine regions in the U.S. led him to take his existing interest in - and knowledge of - wine to new heights. As reflected through his work both on-and-off the basketball court, leaving a legacy is greatly important to McCollum, and McCollum Heritage 91 is a reflection of bringing his passions to life and honoring his family name in the process. The first vintage of McCollum Heritage 91, a 2018 Chehalem Mountains Pinot noir, is now available with plans to release additional vintages in spring of 2021.
