CJ McCollum Reaffirms Commitment To Oregon Wine With Addition Of 2021 Willamette Valley Rosé

This April, McCollum Heritage 91 will release fifth wine in its portfolio

NEWBERG, Ore. (April 20, 2022) - Reaffirming his commitment to Oregon wine, CJ McCollum has announced an exciting addition to the McCollum Heritage 91 portfolio: a 2021 Willamette Valley Rosé, which will be available on the winery’s website at 9 a.m. on April 25.

“The last year has presented a number of changes and opportunities for me, both personally and professionally,” said McCollum. “One of the more refreshing factors I’ve encountered is the continued interest in McCollum Heritage 91, and the opportunity to expand my interests in wine.”

The most recent release is McCollum’s second Rosé, and his fifth wine, following a 2018 Chehalem Mountains Pinot Noir, 2019 Chehalem Mountains Pinot Noir, 2020 Willamette Valley Rosé and 2020 One Barrel Challenge Chardonnay.

McCollum’s Rosé is “texturally compelling and plush, yet full of juicy freshness,” said Gina Hennen, who serves as winemaker for McCollum Heritage 91 through its partnership with Adelsheim Vineyard. “It’s laden with flavors of just-picked raspberries and a punch of strawberry lemonade. Delightful.”

The 2021 Willamette Valley Rosé will be available for purchase on the McCollum Heritage 91 website and will retail for $33, a reference to McCollum’s uniform number on the court, 3. With 300 cases produced, like all Adelsheim vintages, McCollum Heritage 91 wines are LIVE certified sustainable.

McCollum Heritage 91 is a culmination of not only McCollum’s passion for wine, but also his dedication to creating a brand that carries forward his legacy. Together with his wife, Elise, McCollum acquired a 318-acre vineyard property in the Yamihill-Carlton AVA in 2021. The site, which borders Resonance Vineyard, contains multiple micro-climates, a five-acre reservoir, several irrigation ponds, a rock quarry and a nursery operation. While the McCollums will announce additional plans for the property and programming at a later date, the land acquisition solidifies their long-term vision, amplifying the overarching goal of creating an exceptional vineyard that produces world-class wines.

“One of the elements that has evolved most since announcing McCollum Heritage 91 is my commitment to the Willamette Valley,” continued McCollum. “While I’ve always been passionate about the region, spending time at Adelsheim - in the winery and vineyards - has strengthened my desire to take additional ownership and expand my overall position with wine.”

The label name, McCollum Heritage 91, is not only a nod to his family, but “heritage” was McCollum’s childhood street name and “91” is a reflection of his own vintage, having been born in 1991.

About McCollum Heritage 91

McCollum Heritage 91 is the creation of CJ McCollum. Having been introduced to wine in his early 20s, McCollum’s fortuitous move to one of the top wine regions in the U.S. led him to take his existing passion for - and knowledge of - wine to new heights. As reflected through his work both on-and-off the basketball court, leaving a legacy is greatly important to McCollum, and McCollum Heritage 91 is a reflection of bringing his passions to life and honoring his family name in the process.
